DUI/DWI Treatment
We are a State Licensed facility providing court
mandated screening and treatment services for our clients who have been
convicted of DUI's both within the State of Arizona and in other states.
Scottsdale Treatment endeavors to provide treatment not
punishment. We want clients that have been refereed to us by the courts
to have a positive experience with alcohol and drug treatment so that
if there is a problem, they can break through any denial and take the
steps necessary to begin a program of recovery. For many, the
circumstances are not as dire; perhaps a poor decision or temporary
lack of judgment may have lead them into the program. The goal is that
should they, or someone they love, develop a problem in the future,
they will be better equipped to understand and seek out further help.
We believe strongly that the misery of treatment and the stigma
attached to the disease of addiction can be removed. Many clients that
have participated in our court mandated programs have made the decision
not to use alcohol and drugs and were given the support and tools to
continue a sober lifestyle. The client is given a safe and structured environment in order to
re-focus their lives in a more purposeful and intentional direction of
their own design. Honesty, open-mindedness and willingness are the keys
emphasized as the group sessions cover in depth the reality of what got
us here, the role alcohol and other drugs has played in our lives up
this point, where we want to go from here and how to get there. DUI Educational Topics Include:
- How alcohol and other drugs affect a persons ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- How alcohol concentration is measured.
- Alternatives to driving while impaired.
- The current Arizona DUI Laws.
- The Physiological effects of substance use.
- The Psychological and sociological aspects of substance use.
- What is social drinking?
- The stages of substance abuse and addiction.
- The definitions and characteristics of addiction.
- The Various treatment approaches.
- A self assessment of alcohol and drug use.
- Community resources, programs and interventions available.
- An orientation to the process and benefits of various self help groups.
- Relapse consequences and relapse prevention.
